Working with your EMD (Electro-Motive Diesel) RFQ

EMD's 645-series engines (8, 12, 16 and 20-cylinder configurations — e.g. 8-645E2, 16-645E2) have powered marine propulsion and auxiliary power for decades, and most 645 service parts remain in production even though the series was succeeded by the 710. EMD part numbers are typically 6-7 digit references (a rocker arm and a crankshaft damper look nothing alike but are both just a number) that identify the exact component regardless of which engine size it's fitted to, so the part number is usually more useful for sourcing than the engine model alone. We check requests against engine type, serial number and part reference before sourcing.

Customers can send part numbers, maker references, equipment model data, serial numbers, nameplates, photos, drawings, old offers or previous supply documents. We review the information before quoting so the request is handled as a technical procurement task rather than a generic product search.

Brand names on this page are used only to identify equipment, models, parts and buyer search references.

EMD (Electro-Motive Diesel) RFQ scope

Use this page when your purchasing or engineering team needs review by part number, model, serial number, drawing, photo or old commercial reference.

8-645 / 12-645 / 16-645 / 20-645 engine references

RFQs for 8-645 / 12-645 / 16-645 / 20-645 engine references go quicker with the engine type/model, serial number and a parts-book reference if you have one.

rocker arm and valve train assemblies

RFQs for rocker arm and valve train assemblies go quicker with the engine type/model, serial number and a parts-book reference if you have one.

cylinder liner and piston components

RFQs for cylinder liner and piston components go quicker with the engine type/model, serial number and a parts-book reference if you have one.

cooling water system components

For cooling water system components, a part number, maker reference or old order line is usually enough to start the check.

crankshaft damper assemblies

For crankshaft damper assemblies, the engine type, cylinder number and serial number narrow the request faster than a part name alone.

gasket and seal kits

Gasket and seal kits are matched by shaft size, material and dimensions rather than by name, so a marked drawing or old part helps.

How to send a useful EMD (Electro-Motive Diesel) RFQ

Attach the clearest technical information available. A single photo of a nameplate, an old offer line or a marked drawing can prevent delays when there are similar models, revisions or connection types.

If the item is obsolete or hard to identify, include dimensions, application notes and any alternative references already checked by your engineering team. We can review the request and reply by email with the next steps.
